Blakkat (aka Luke WILLIAMS) is an artist and maker from South East Essex whose work sits between digital fabrication, street aesthetics and contemporary craft.
Originally starting out in high-end bespoke furniture design, Luke spent years creating precision-made pieces from wood, metal and concrete. That background in craftsmanship still underpins his work today, but his focus has shifted from functional furniture to bold, graphic artwork.
Using CNC machining, Blakkat creates hundreds of precisely cut pieces that are assembled into pixel-style mosaic artworks. Each piece is carefully constructed from individual components before being finished with spray-painted colour gradients and layered surfaces, creating vibrant works that blur the line between sculpture and graphic art.
Much of the visual language in his work comes from nostalgia — particularly retro video games, early digital graphics and pop culture that shaped his childhood. These influences appear in the pixelated forms and playful compositions that define his work.
